Butterfly Bookbinding & Botanical Printing

Join us for a delightful day of printing botanical papers and creating a beautiful butterfly-bound book by hand! This is a beginner workshop and no prior experience is necessary. In the morning, you will learn techniques to create unique, extraordinary, eco-prints on watercolor paper, a process as magical as it is accessible. Just about any leaf or flower can be permanently printed on paper, leaving a beautiful memory of a season, time, and place. We will then take a break while the papers dry, have some lunch, and consider the stunning and unique results of our morning’s play. Then we’ll spend the afternoon creating a book with your botanical print papers. Using four needles, the Japanese binding style called butterfly binding is fun and easy to do. We’ll add a couple of pockets, and if you’d like, you can finish the book off with beads. This book will lie flat when completed and is a lovely way to show off your botanical prints.
